HP Officejet Pro 8600 Driver

Every wireless printer setup requires a driver software. This facilitates smooth communication between the printer and the computer. This holds true for both Windows and MAC computers. To setup the wireless, you will need the HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 driver, which you can easily source from HP’s website.

Prepping the connection

  • Collect the following things
    • Service Set Identifier otherwise known as Network name
    • WPA or WEP security passcodes
    • Your MAC computer connected to the wireless network
    • Turn all the devices on including the computer and router along with the printer device
    • Connect the printer and the MAC to a similar network; just check if the network names selected are the same
    • Bring the printer device closer to the router
    • All cables, for now, disconnected from the printer; reconnect instructions received later

Get printer on the wireless

  • First, you must use the ‘Wireless Setup Wizard’ to get the device on to the wireless
  • Click on the ‘Wireless’ icon from the Control Panel of the MAC
  • Then go into the ‘Wireless Menu’
  • Next, click Wireless Settings -> Wireless Setup Wizard
  • The ‘Select the Network Name’ screen appears; display of all the networks available list
  • To connect the printer to the wireless just follow the steps seen on the screen from here onwards

Driver installation and setting up the network connection

This step uses the HP software installation to complete the wireless network connection setup. Depending upon the options shown on the screen, you just choose either ‘HP Easy Scan’ or simply ‘HP Scan’.

  • On HP’s website, go to the ‘Let’s identify your product to get started’ page
  • Here enter your model number by clicking on ‘Printer’ and then choose ‘Submit’
  • After default operating system selection, the software results page is displayed

Note: You can always alter the operating system by clicking on ‘Change’

  • Next, you will see the ‘HP Easy Start’ file name or the full feature driver with the ‘Download’ button next to it
  • Click on it and the file will be saved to the relevant folder on your MAC

Note: The full feature HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 driver is a ‘.dmg’ file

  • Click on the ‘HP Easy Start’ file name or the ‘.dmg’ file from the ‘Downloads’ folder
  • Follow the instructions you get to install the software and the driver
  • Adding the print queue
    • Select the printer’s name
    • Click ‘Use’ or the ‘Print Using’ menu
    • In the pop-up menu select the name of your printer and click on ‘Add’
    • Complete the installation on the HP installer

Troubleshooting printer connection

If you are unable to install the HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 driver due to connectivity issues then you can do any of the following:

  • Boot both the computer and the printer
  • Verify if you have entered the correct network name
  • Change the printer and PC’s location to move closer to the router
  • Connect the printer to the wireless network, manually
  • Check for the band setting of the router
  • Update the Firewall software
